We will design and deliver a training package for you and your staff that will be relevant and as unique as the person you support.
The aim of the training will be to answer the challenges you face, from carrying out a clinical or care procedure to serious medical treatment. Our years of experience have taught us that your challenges will be different to other services and situations, so our flexible bespoke approach is a perfect fit.
Regardless of circumstances, we (and any Good Practice Guidance) will insist on some essential elements being included or cross-referenced to evidence of recent relevant staff CPD. (For example, staff who have recently had MCA/DoLS/Supported Decision Making training or physical restraint/physical intervention/pmva/positive handling models of training from a recognised model).
Courses include
- Values, workplace ethos, person-centred approaches
- Existing Related Guidance – Identifying current good practice examples
- Legal, Professional & Ethical Considerations
- Capacity, Consent, Best Interest, relevant legal pathways eg. Court of Protection (England/Wales), Sheriff Court or, in more complex cases, the Court of Session (Scotland) The Office of Care and Protection (Northern Ireland), Decision Support Service (DSS), Circuit Court, High Court (Ireland) etc.
- Professional responsibilities and boundaries.
- Benefits Vs Risks of Restrictive Interventions (Physical/Mechanical/Chemical/Environmental/Psychological)
- Risks of specific/combination of restrictive interventions identified for your supported person/procedure
- Benefits Vs Risks – Weighing the medical benefits of the procedure against the risks of restraint.

- Tailoring the procedure to meet the individual needs and preferences of the person.
- Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), desensitisation, and other relevant/appropriate strategies
- People Present, Equipment & Venue Considerations
